Jeff King, IDITAROD Sled Dog Race Winner!
Jeff King, sponsored in part by Marsland Laboratories, was the 2007 winner of
the Iditarod Sled Dog Race - "the last great
race on earth". The race starts in Anchorage, Alaska and finishes 1,150 miles later
in Nome, Alaska. The race draws world class mushers from all over the world. This year's
race included mushers from England, Australia, Canada, and Norway.
In Alaska they have a saying, "Alaska is a place where men are men
and women win the Iditarod." But this year things were different. Jeff King, from
Denali Park, Alaska, beat Dee Dee Johnrow by racing the last 77 miles in a below zero
blizzard battling 100 mile per hour winds in a total white out to finish three hours ahead
of Dee Dee who lead for most of the race. Jeff fed AMAIZE AHD
to his dogs during the race. Jeff's time for the 1,150 mile race was 9 days, 5 hours, 52
minutes, and 26 seconds. This was Jeff's third win, making him the 4th musher to ever win
three or more times. With his win Jeff received $50,000 and a new Dodge truck, and joined
the elite group of three-time winners of Rick Swensen, Susan Butcher, and Martin Buser.
